Chapter Seven

Angel and Andrea were sitting in a booth at a local lounge that was slightly busier than Carmine’s. They were there for the awesome brunch entrees the place offered. The ladies were trying to catch up with what had been going on in each other’s lives. Angel was at war with herself because she wanted to tell Andrea about the baby, marriage and everything in between. She didn’t let her friend in on the tea due to the agreement she had with Israel. Everyone was going to find out at the same time.

“I don’t understand why you and Israel haven’t gotten married yet. Ever since that man walked in your café, he’s been your knight with diamond fangs,” Andrea laughed.

Angel knew her friend was serious about what she said.

“One day I hope we do take that step. He’s everything I never knew I needed. There hasn’t been a time when I couldn’t count on him or trust his word. Sometimes I pray that everything with him is the truth and not just a facade.”

“If he isn’t the person, he’s been showing you, his ass needs to go to Hollywood. I’ve seen the way he looks at you. Especially that night at Carmine’s that man doesn’t see or want anyone but you. It’s good, you deserve to be with someone that loves you back. Israel is that person, I can tell.”

“Enough talk about me, what have you been doing besides working? You’re the only person I know that works more hours than I did at the café. If you hire two people that would lighten your load a lot,” Angel suggested.

“I’ve been chilling with AJ a lot lately,” Andrea confessed.

“What kind of chilling? Were y’all clothes on or off?” Angel asked.

“We are just friends Angel. He’s a cool guy to talk to and kick it with. Neither of us are looking for anything serious. The most we have done sexually is flirting with each other off and on.”

“What do y’all do when your chilling?”

“Look at movies, talk and text throughout the day,” Andrea shrugged.

“It sounds like you like being around him.”

“I do, he’s cool as a fan. We talk about everything. He’s been a good go to person since you have a lot going on lately. I’ve been working long hours so a few times he’s taken me home because according to him a woman doesn’t have any business riding around alone late at night.”

“Aww that’s cute. What’s stopping y’all from going further?”

“I don’t want to mess up the vibe we have going. It’s dope as hell having a man to talk to that doesn’t want to just fuck you. We’ve hung out a few times we always end up laughing and joking so loud that the people around us look to see what we have going on.”

“That’s dope, you’re always talking about me deserving to be happy, but you are too.”

“I’m not looking for a love connection and neither is he. We’re good like we are. I’m going with him to the sneaker ball thing.
